Cooking Adventures

Now that I live in an apartment with a full kitchen and no longer have a meal plan, I have been finding it extremely fun to create new things in the kitchen. My roommates and I have a goal of making at least one new dish a week. Recently we have made teriyaki tilapia and gnocchi. But our favorite part is not the actually food, but the snacks and baked goods we have been making. After my apple picking trip (you can read about that in a previous blog) I made first (and second) ever apple pies. We have also made whoopie pies and cookies.
Tonight my roommate Nicole and I decided to try to relive our individual trips to Paris, France by making crêpes.
Step 1: Gather Ingredients
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
Step 2: Mix Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and the eggs. Gradually add in the milk and water, stirring to combine. Add the salt and butter; beat until smooth.
Step 3: Cook
  • Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium high heat. Pour or scoop the batter onto the griddle, using approximately 1/4 cup for each crepe. Tilt the pan with a circular motion so that the batter coats the surface evenly.
  • Cook the crepe for about 2 minutes, until the bottom is light brown. Loosen with a spatula, turn and cook the other side.
Step 4: Fill & Fold
Add your favorite fillings/ toppings- we personally filled our crepes with nutella, bananas, and strawberries. Then fold to secure fillings.
