In search of the Loch Ness Monster

Today (4/9) a group of the FYSAE girls decided to have a day out, but this wasn’t your ordinary girls’ day of shopping and nail polish, oh no, we were on a mission. Our mission- find Nessie, the legendary Loch Ness Monster.
Our day began earlier than any other day this semester. We had to meet in Edinburgh for a tour bus at 8:00 am. I stayed in Edinburgh the night before to avoid an early morning, while the others had to take a taxi from Stirling at around 6:30 am. In all, the early morning was totally worth it.
Our tour was a longer drive than any of us expected, but the tour guide filled us with facts about the Scottish highlands and kept us entertained with traditional music. We stopped for a picnic lunch then headed to our destination, Nessie.. I mean, Loch Ness.
Once we arrived, we toured the ruins of Urquhart Castle. It was an absolutely beautiful sight, and by this point, I know my castles (I’ve seen enough of them here). It was a beautiful day and not one of us could resist putting our feet into the water of Loch Ness.
We then took a boat tour around part of the Loch. The mist that the boat created was just what I need to cool off and the view of Urquhart was stunning from the water.
Oh and I forgot to mention the most exciting part… WE FOUND NESSIE! Actually we found her several times- on the side of a bus, on a mural, and in the gift shop.  Apparently she is sometimes green and other times purple, sometimes she’s even a he!
The day ended with a drive back to Edinburgh interrupted by a delicious fish and chip meal, and a train to Stirling. It was the perfect girls’ day.
