After the completion of midterms yesterday, I found out that I was not the only one upset, but today is a new day. And what a wonderful day it is. Today the professors are taking industrial action against compulsory redundancies that are taking place specifically at the University of Stirling. (There are also strikes taking place throughout the UK to prevent major budget cuts, just like in the US.) I short, that meant that most of campus had the day off!
It was about 15 degrees Celsius, or 60 degrees Fahrenheit, with a bright shining sun, and virtually no wind. I felt like summer. It seemed as though everyone was outside. Picnics were taking place all along the loch, frisbees and American footballs were being thrown, footballs were being kicked around. It was an absolutely beautiful sight. People laid out on throw blankets, towels, and many were simply on the grass.
All of the sunshine was just what we needed to lift our spirits and realize that our mid- semester break began tomorrow and that we’re in SCOTLAND!
