On this snowy day I broke out my suitcase and began preliminary packing for Scotland. I didn’t get very far between work and shoveling, but I think for a teenage girl, I’ve got a descent head start. The contents so far include an umbrella, raincoat, many dresses and skirts, Arcadia t-shirts, several sweaters, enough contacts and inhalers for 6 months (just in case), basic toiletries for the first few days, a duffle bag (hidden underneath.. for everything I bring back home), flip- flops for the shower, and a cookbook from my home county for my home- stay family. Not too bad for snowy day. I plan to put my clothing for the first few days in loose and everything else in a vacuum sealed bag to conserve space.
The wait is killing me, but I’m getting a lot accomplished in the time. I’ve been working part time and this week began my online Global Connections and Reflections course. The course is a little confusing right now, but I’m sure it’ll get easier once I’m actually abroad and able to discuss the material with my fellow FYSAEs. I am not necessarily enjoying work because it seems as though bad weather brings bad moods, which doesn’t help when you work in retail, but it is money and I’m sure the current weather will help me cope with the Scottish climate.
Only 11 days to go!
